BMW has released official information and pictures of the new 2009 7 Series. BMW has set up an official site with a press release and high quality images, etc. relating to the 5th generation of their 7 Series sedan. The new version will be completely redesigned inside and out and will be much different than previous models. Powering the new V8 version of the 7 Series will be the same twin-turbocharged 4.4 Liter V-8 that creates 400 HP and 450 lb/ft of tourqe. BMW also promises class leading fuel efficiency as well. The suspension will feature dynamic damping control which will allow the driver to adjust the firmness of the dampers via controls in the cabin. The front end will also feature a multi link double wishbone suspension, making the new 7 Series the first car my BMW featuring this technology. A new version of the iDrive system along with a larger 10.2 inch high resolution color screen will be standard in all models, featuring easier to use menus and direct access hard buttons. The audio system will now come with a hard drive for storing music on. Of course a new flagship BMW sedan must feature all the newest safety features, and the new generation is no exception. Among the safety features of the new 7 Series is a blind spot monitoring system that will blink small lights and vibrate the steering wheel when a lane change is initiated while a vehicle is in the blind spot of the driver. Also, an updated version of BMW’s night vision system will detect and indicate individual pedestrians in the line of vision.

According to MSNBC, the new deals that some automakers are now offering to give customers lower prices on gas may not be as sweet as they seem.  Even though gas prices keep climbing without showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon, the discounted gas prices that auto makers are offering with the purchase of new vehicles may not be the best way to save money.  These offers are limited, often to a certain amount of gallons per year and only on certain models, and they are often not as good as other deals that may be available.  For example, many automakers offer 0% financing on new vehicles instead of the gimmicky gas scheme.   Interest on a car loan can cost $50 or more per month depending on your loan terms.  And many automakers will offer other rebates and other incentives equaling thousands of dollars.  That could buy you a lot of gas.  So when you go to buy a new car and are comparing deals, make sure you do the math and choose which deal is best for you.

Apparently, some gas stations across the country have been charging more per gallon for credit card purchases than cash. The price on the pump will automatically change when you put in your credit card.

This Yahoo News article discusses the fact that Ferrari has announced that it plans to cut the amount of emissions by half and increase the gas mileage of its cars. Ferrari is also developing hybrid technology and alternative fuel vehicles. When asked about customers willingness to buy a Ferrari with a hybrid or alternative power engine, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo said “Yes, of course. It’s the best sports car in the world. It’s still fundamentally a Ferrari.”
